Contrasting Trends in Agriculture

The two major contrasting systems of Agriculture differ in the Size of Land, Types of linkage developed between the Farm and Factory, The extent of consumption of non-renewable energy resources, proportion of workforce involved, management efficiency, per capital productivity , extent of use of animal products in daily diets and Income.

The need in our system is one where the benefit of a large human -animal population, robust soils, abundant sunlight, all- year round water provision, rich ecological diversity, available organic waste and a fairly extensive irrigation network are optimised in a manner that productivity is conyinously increased without damage to the long term production as well as prices of food grains.

Labour and Land use to be diversified so as to increase real income and purchasing power. The contrasting systems should be balances in a slow but effective manner to ensure local farmers grasp fully new techniques taught them
